For the Kids’ Choice Awards 2024, our team dreamed up a Nickelodeon extravaganza in Bikini Bottom, with SpongeBob & friends hosting the ultimate birthday bash to celebrate 25 years of SpongeBob on TV.
We brought this vision to life by creating five fantastical worlds—Bikini Bottom, Birthday Boy, Food Fight, Slime Factory, and Pool Party—with each one adding to the 90 minutes of vibrant, chaotic fun.
The show’s opening featured an immersive flythrough sequence, blending all the worlds into one exhilarating journey. We also produced custom flythroughs to punctuate transitions throughout the show.
Lina & Louise from Double Up Studio, together with designer Hashmukh Kerai, crafted hundreds of assets, from golden Krabby Patties and eyeball machines to ice cream balloons. Our goal was to capture Nickelodeon’s spirited, slapstick essence while elevating the KCA brand. Our worlds appeared both on studio screens and in the on-screen broadcast packages, influencing the set design and incorporating this year’s augmented reality elements.
Recognizing that KCA is an awards show at its core, we created 3D animating title designs that could seamlessly exist within any of our KCA environments, in addition to bespoke 3D transition elements that guided viewers through nomination packages while maintaining a cohesive visual style amid the delightful chaos.
We also engineered interactive on-screen gameplay elements to engage the audience in real time, ensuring an unforgettable and immersive experience for everyone involved.
