Massive Cinema Branding & Campaigns
Beginning in August 2018, MASSIVE launched to champion British cinema to 16–24 year olds all across the UK, giving young people the chance to experience the best British films together and in the cinema.

We wanted to achieve something that spoke to the audience in a clear and direct way without being patronising or decorative, not an emoji in sight either. We commissioned an exciting young producer called Aquarelle to create the sound design for the animated pieces, who we met through our work with Skepta’s Levi’s Music Project.

BRANDING & CAMPAIGNS
MASSIVE’s identity supports British titles aiming to connect with the elusive 16–24 audience. Inspired by bold magazine mastheads, marquee banners, and cinema visuals, the logo and colour palette echo the high-energy feel of film posters and trips to the movies.
The name MASSIVE demanded a bold, headline-style treatment. We used a redrawn version of Information Extra Bold Wide – a 1950s typeface by Friedrich K. Sallwey, chosen for its striking character and cinematic history. It was ideal for framing film posters and evoking that classic masthead feel.
Created with BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, MASSIVE offers young audiences early access to the year’s biggest films – on the big screen, with their friends. The design process involved interns and work experience students, ensuring youth perspectives helped shape the brand.
After developing the initial brand and launch campaign for MASSIVE, we worked with them to create subsequent film campaigns over the next five years.
